Joachim du Bellay

Joachim du Bellay (ca. 1552-1560) was a French poet, born near Angers. He studied Law at Poitiers. A member of the Pléiade group of poets, du Bellay was involved in extended arguments concerning the style and purpose of poetry. He died in Paris. The translations from French are by John Gallas and Kurt Gänzl.
