Chen Xianfa

Chen Xianfa, one of China’s most esteemed contemporary poets, is currently Chairman of the Association for Literature and the Arts in Anhui Province. Chen was born in 1967 in Anhui and graduated from Fudan University in Shanghai in 1989. He has published dozens of books of poetry, including A Past Life (2005), The Problem of Raising Cranes (Taiwan, 2015), and Poems in Nines (2017), as well as a two-volume essay collection, Notes on Black Pond Dam (2021). He has received over a dozen poetry prizes, including the prestigious Lu Xun Literature Prize. Li Hai, born in 1978 in Anhui, is a lecturer at Hefei University of Technology, also a PhD candidate at Hunan Normal University, who has published three books of translation (from English into Chinese), including Kitty Fitzgerald’s Pigtopia. His translations have been published by such magazines as Modern Poetry in Translation, Acumen, and The Hong Kong Review.
