Philippe Jaccottet

Philippe Jaccottet was born in Moudon, Switzerland, in 1925. A prominent figure in the immediate post-war generation of French poets, he has lived in France since 1953. As well as poetry, he has published prose writings and critical essays, and is known as a translator of poets including Rilke, Mann, HÖlderlin, Ungaretti and Montale.
